School's England banner makes it to Euros final23 hours agoBy Alex McIntyre,üveyik av sezonu ne zaman açılıyor BBC News, West MidlandsShareSS Peter and Paul Catholic PrimarySchool vice principal Jamie Morgan took the school's banner to the Euros final in BerlinA good luck banner made by school children for England’s football team made it all the way to the Euros 2024 final.Pupils from SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy in Wolverhampton created the sign before the tournament, covering it in England flags and football-themed images.The work caught the attention of players and royalty in June, when the school visited the team's training headquarters to meet Prince William, Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins.In Berlin on Sunday, vice principal Jamie Morgan was pictured holding the banner at the Olympiastadion before the Three Lions’ 2-1 defeat against Spain.Posting the image on X, formerly Twitter, the school described the sign as their “lucky banner” and, in a later post, called for Mr Morgan to “bring it home”.Ultimately, it was not quite lucky enough, and England's 58-year hunt for silverware continues.Like the players, however, the children's handiwork has been on a journey, with memories to last a lifetime.Getty ImagesPupils showcased their banner to Prince William, Ollie Watkins and Harry KaneBefore the final, principal Jenny Byrne said the pupils were “delighted” that their banner had received so much attention.She said the “excited” youngsters had also asked for a special football-themed day in support of the England players, during which they would wear football kits or red and white.Follow BBC Wolverhampton & Black Country on Facebook, X and Instagram.
